Classical Christmas Around the World (Warner Classics)
A massive compilation from Warner Classics featuring 65 top tracks from their vast library. Since this is a modern, playlist-influenced, compilation it tends to be made up of shorter tracks (all 65 songs = about three hours), but they are all generally top-shelf recordings so it’s not too bad.
In the Bleak Midwinter: Christmas Carols from Kings’ - Choir of King’s College Cambridge - David Hyde
Typically gorgeous choral offering room King’s.
Favourite Christmas Carols from Kings’
More classic choral Christmas recordings from King's can be found in this compilation from Decca classics.
I Sing of a Maiden - Five New Carols by John Rutter - Cambridge Singers / Royal Philharmonic Orchestra / John Rutter
From John Rutter’s official website….
“I have been composing and arranging Christmas carols ever since I was a teenager – the Shepherd’s Pipe Carol was the first published one – and hardly a year has gone by without adding a new one or two to the list. I sing of a maiden brings together four of my latest composed carols, together with a recent arrangement of the lovely old German carol Es ist ein’ Ros’ entsprungen.
